Harvard Sub
The Harvard sub currently is Metra's longest commuter route, extending 63 miles from Oglivie Transportation Center to Harvard, IL. The line extends to Janesville, WI, with only freight traffic. Freight traffic is very light with about 5 freights a week. The only scheduled freight on this line is MPRPR, which is a manifest train going from the Union Pacific Proviso Yard to Janesville, WI, and back. This train runs at the evening to night on Mondays-Wednesdays-Fridays. Other freight trains are the occasional grain train, and a baretable train. The baretable used to run occasionally if Global II (Intermodel Yard in Proviso Yard) gets full. When Global II gets full, they run a baretable up to Janesville, have it there for a few days, then run it back. There are a good amount of grain trains with facilities located at Chemung, IL (Harvard); Evansville, WI; South Beloit, WI; and sometimes Avalon, WI. The lack of freight and three tracks all the way to Barrington, make room for a lot of Metra trains, with 65 Metra Trains in a weekday, 24 on Saturdays, and 15 on Sundays.
